Name and shame District's rogue landlords

For years Labour Councillors in Bradford have blocked calls for a register of Landlords aimed at providing peace of mind for renters. The Mayor of London launched his “Rogue Landlord and Agent Checker” in December and we are calling on Bradford’s Executive to do the same and to name and shame those convicted of housing offences. It would send a clear message to Bradford’s rogue Landlords letting them know that if they mistreat their tenants, they will be exposed.

Around 18% of homes in Bradford are rented. A poorly maintained, dirty or dangerous rented property can affect not just the tenants but a whole street. In Bradford we have too many rogue landlords who rent dangerous properties or who act illegally to evict residents when they do not have the right to do so. It is estimated that more than 20% of the Districts rented homes have a class 1 hazard and need to be improved. (A hazard that poses a serious threat to the health or safety of people living there)
