Cash wasted on unused training

11.31.54am GMT Wed 2nd Dec 2009

Cllr Carol Beardmore (Lib Dem Eccleshill) will be highlighting the failure of Bradford to implement the cross-sector system which should be used as a way of assessing children's needs.

Using the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) is a legal requirement but according to a report going to the Council on 2nd December it is not yet part of the day to day work of assessing children.

Cllr Beardmore said,

" I want to know why Bradford has not been able to implement CAF in the way other Authorities appear to have done and with more impact. This report provides little information and without the evidence to see how it improves the lives of children I don't see how we can roll it out across the district .

The fact that some agencies have not taken the system on board as part of every day work surely shows that there are still unanswered questions about using CAF so at the moment it does appear to be a waste of valuable staff time and money.

People have been trained to use it but because they didn't do so, everyone is having to be trained again. This is a huge waste of time and money
