A Better Bradford


The Council's Annual General Meeting represented another nail in the coffin of what passes for democracy in Bradford. A motion proposed by the Liberal Democrats was voted down by the combined efforts of Labour and Conservative councillors. We called for a review of the way the Council operates having just seen the election of the first West Yorkshire Mayor, representing a significant re-shaping of the political system. We should also look at how we work too.

Rebuild The Local Economy


Liberal Democrats will harness the innovation of British business and insist that multinational corporations pay their fair share in taxation.

We will fight for good pay and secure jobs where workers are not held back by discrimination, inequality or a lack of training.

Jeanette is campaigning to persuade Yorkshire Water and the Council to invest in new technologies to ensure that everything that can be recovered from the waste water stream from Esholt and redundant land is turned into a country park.

The Liberal Democrats will crack down on air pollution and invest in renewable energy, creating green jobs across the UK.

Jeanette has led the campaign in Bradford for no idling zones around schools, flood prevention measures along the River Aire, a new country park to protect and enhance green spaces and woodland, and regularly campaigned against housing developments in green spaces.

Invest In Schools


Liberal Democrats will reverse cuts to school funding and triple the Early Years Pupil Premium, providing additional support to children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Jeanette has volunteered at a Summer Camp for children making the transition from primary to secondary school. She has raised almost a quarter of a million pounds to ensure that the project continues.

Ban Noisy Fireworks



Liberal Democrat Leader Councillor Jeanette Sunderland is calling for Bradford Council to investigate the making a of by-law to restrict the use of noisy fireworks across the District and the creation of free quiet or low-noise firework displays in the Districts Parks.
