Jafrul has lived and worked in Bradford for over 40 years. He has raised his family in Bradford. A Dad and recently a Grandfather for the first time, Jafrul is a dedicated family man.
Jafrul has worked in a number of industries, running a family restaurant and a computer supplies company. He works today as a financial and benefits advice worker serving the BD2 area.
A COMMUNITY CHAMPION:
Jafrul uses his skills and knowledge from his work supporting and helping the most vulnerable families in the area. He regularly uses social media to inform and advise the wider community on ways to improve personal finances and flags up the help that exists for those who need it.
This has become even more important in recent months as the cost of living crisis has started to impact on so many more people.
As a Councillor he will focus work on making our area a cleaner, safer place to live. A place where children and young people have the support they need for a good education and better opportunities to play in every neighbourhood.
Jafrul cares about the environment and will work hard to improve local green spaces and campaign for investment in public spaces and better cycling and pedestrian facilities.
Like many, Jafrul is deeply concerned about the rising anti-social behaviour and he will work with the Police and Council Officers to tackle quad bikes, vandalism, drug dealing and inconsiderate drivers.
REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE:
In his work as a financial, debt and benefit advisor Jafrul sees everyday people who have been left to struggle because the services they should be able to depend on have been cut or no longer exist leaving them vulnerable.
Jafrul doesn’t just want to shout from the sidelines, he is ready to roll up his sleeves and take action. Jafrul has worked to develop social policy work on issues such as housing and poverty. He has done this by engaging with residents and researching what will really make a positive difference in their lives.
Too many decisions in Bradford are made without consultation or sharing of information (the current roll-out of the new Clean Air Zone is a perfect example of this). Jafrul firmly believes that for too long the voice of local people has gone unheard and he is committed to changing that.
WORKING HARD FOR BOLTON AND UNDERCLIFFE:
Working along with Councillor Rachel Sunderland and Former MP David Ward, Jafrul is already working hard for our area and with your support on May 5th, he will be able to deliver for residents across Bolton and Undercliffe.
Safer Public Spaces
Jafrul will be pressing the West Yorkshire Mayor and Police Commissioner to invest more and increase policing resources in our area. This is essential for us to deal with anti-social behaviour, reckless driving and drug dealing.
Greater Investment in Our Community Facilities
The Lib Dem Team have fought to protect our local Library from Labour’s cuts. Jafrul will not only fight to make sure it stays open, he will demand that the Council invests in expanding the services offered to residents. He will also keep up the pressure to invest in other community amenities and local High Streets.
Our Children Deserve Much Better
Jafrul will hold Labour to account for their shocking failures in Children’s Services. He will fight for every child to have a good school, great play facilities and work to restore the Early Help needed by our most vulnerable children. He will keep up the pressure to restore a permanent base for youth services in the Ward.
