Following the Prime Minister's press conference today, Acting Leader of the Liberal Democrats Ed Davey said:
"As the coronavirus crisis continues, people are becoming increasingly worried. As made clear by the measures and advice being put forward today, this is likely to be a tough and frightening time for many people. It is vital we all take this incredibly seriously, follow the advice being given, and pull together as a country during this difficult period.
"The Liberal Democrats have full confidence in the Chief Medical Officer and his team, but it is vital the Government continue to be honest and transparent with the public to ensure they maintain public confidence in their approach to tackling the crisis.
"The priority must be protecting the most vulnerable in our society. Whether that involves more testing, more financial aid, or more support for our NHS and social care workforce, it is vital the government continues following the evidence to slow the spread of the coronavirus."
