Milman Bridge Petition

Milman Bridge

The Liberal Democrat team in Idle and Thackley have had a number of complaints about the difficulties of people using Milman Swing Bridge. It is the swing bridge over the canal in Apperley Lane.

A report last November to the Council asked the Council to reconsider additional safety measures such as traffic lights to improve safety. The Committee decided not to take any action at the moment as it did not have enough money and it wanted to see the outcome of improvements to the Greengates junction before it made a decision. The Committee also wanted to invite the owners of the bridge to a further meeting.

We are not satisfied that sufficient work has been carried out to find out the extent of the problems or to make the bridge safer for pedestrians. We would like you help to do 3 things to help us campaign for improvements to the safety of people using Milman Swing Bridge.

1. Sign the petition for improvements to the bridge
2. Contribute your thoughts and experience as a user of the bridge
3. Contribute your ideas for improvements
4. Volunteer to appear in a campaign to highlight the danger to people using the bridge.

I/ We the undersigned wish Bradford Council and the Canal and Rivers Trust work together to improve safety for people using Milman Swing Bridge on Apperley Road.
