Child poverty rising twice as fast as feared

Following the publication of a Living Standards Audit by the Resolution Foundation, published today, Jeanette Sunderland , Lib Dem, Idle and Thackley said "As a matter of urgency, deep cuts to Universal Credit and benefits that are disproportionately hurting poorer families should be reversed. Too many families are struggling to pay their way and get on in life; the Government must do more.

Wage bill for suspended staff rockets

"The failure of Labour-run Bradford Council to manage internal staffing processes has cost Bradford Council almost a million pounds" says Councillor Rachel Sunderland, Lib Dem Bolton and Undercliffe. "This is money that could have been spent on front line services".

Set up Carrillion Task Force

Responding to news that small businesses affected by Carillion's liquidation will receive support from a number of banks, Lorely Burt, Liberal Democrat Small Business Spokesperson said:

In a District where 30% of children live in poverty they can’t be serious, can they? Across the District more than 28,000 families will be affected.
