Statement from the City of Bradford Liberal Democrats for the BMDC Elections 2021

The City of Bradford Liberal Democrats has successfully nominated 14 Candidates across the 18 wards in the City. Unfortunately, due to a range of factors, we have not been able to fill the remaining 4 seats.

Some local party members who have taken on the role of the candidate in the past have moved outside the area and are no longer eligible to be nominated. Others raised concerns about their personal health and safety as the country continues to suffer from the effects of the pandemic. Becoming a candidate at any election is first and foremost a personal choice for those individuals.

The local party made several appeals throughout the past 18 months for members to come forward and stand as candidates. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who did put themselves forward and we look forward to campaigning across the city to elect more Liberal Democrat Councillors and deliver our ambitious agenda for a cleaner, greener and more caring Bradford.

Every voter in Bradford will have the opportunity to vote for the Liberal Democrats on May 6th either for one of our hard-working local candidates or for Stewart Golton who is the Liberal Democrat Candidate for the new post of West Yorkshire Mayor and in many places people can vote for both.
